Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung said he looked forward to deepening academic research and artificial intelligence exchanges with Israel Jan. 27.

Lin made the remarks while receiving a contingent from the Israel Defense and Security Forum led by Matan Kahana, former Knesset member and former minister of religious services, in Taipei City, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In his remarks, Lin thanked Kahana for his active support of Taiwan-Israel relations during his tenure in parliament, citing the joint statement backing Taiwan’s international participation released by 72 cross-party members in July 2025, the MOFA said.

In response, Kahana expressed gratitude to Taiwan for its assistance following the Hamas attack on Oct. 7, 2023, and the Iranian attack on Israel last year. Amid rapid regional and global changes, Kahana emphasized that the two sides should work together, the ministry added.

Taiwan-Israel cooperation in academia, agriculture, medicine and innovative technology has gone from strength to strength in recent years, the MOFA said, adding that Taiwan will continue strengthening bilateral collaboration across the board. (POC-E)
